Delhi Welcomes Bodoland’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Gems at Inaugural Mahotsav, Celebrating Assam’s Unique Identity and Traditions: A New Record for the Country

Monday, November 4, 2024

The first-ever Bodoland Mahotsav is set to bring Assam’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential to the national capital on November 15 and 16, 2024, at SAI Indira Gandhi Stadium. The event, themed “Ethos of Peace and Harmony, an Integral Part for Nation Building,” will feature a vibrant display of Bodoland’s cultural and historical treasures, including its literature, language, traditional cuisine, and GI-tagged products.

Organized by the All Bodo Students Union, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dularai Boro Harimu Afad, and Gandhi Hindustani Sahitya Sabha, with support from the Bodoland Territorial Council, the festival aims to promote the region’s unique identity and tourism appeal.

At a press conference, Dipen Boro, President of the All Bodo Students Union, announced that invitations have been extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries, including Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The event also commemorates the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord, a significant milestone that has transformed Bodoland into a peaceful and thriving community after years of insurgency.

The festival will celebrate the Bodo Sahitya Sabha’s 73rd foundation day with a grand cultural rally, discussions on indigenous culture, and insights into sustainable tourism. Special sessions will explore the opportunities in promoting Bodoland’s tourism gems like Manas National Park and the Indo-Bhutan border’s scenic landscapes.
